Find A Grave App for Android Released

Just in time for Christmas, Ancestry has released version 1.0 of their Find A Grave App for Android.

Now Android users can easily search for cemeteries on a map or by name, find deceased relatives, create new memorials, add photos, and update GPS points. They will  also be able to edit their own bio and preferences, see and add to their virtual cemeteries, and find and fulfill photo requests from across the community.

I have not done a side-by-side comparison with the iOS version since the Beta first came out, but it looks good.

Check out the Ancestry.com release for more information or go to the Google Play Store to check it out.

Web based Indexing Program Delayed

The FamilySearch Indexing Newsletter announced today:

"As we reviewed the feedback and prioritized the suggestions we received, it became clear that further improvements were needed. Based on this information, we have decided to delay the release of the new program to ensure it provides the best experience possible for you, our wonderful volunteers."

This is too bad, but not surprising. The new system was nice but not ready for prime time.
