Bridging Generations

“Bridging Generations”, the 2017 Family History Conference, sponsored by the Mesa FamilySearch Library.

The conference will be held at the Tempe Institute of Religion on the ASU Campus, 1000 South McAllister Avenue, in Tempe, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:20 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 21, 2017.

The keynote speaker this year will be Lisa McBride of FamilySearch who works with area family history centers and serves on the FamilySearch Wiki Governance Council. Lisa is an Accredited Genealogist® in Mid-South US Research, with an emphasis on Tennessee ancestors. Her experience includes military research in Revolutionary War, War of 1812 and Civil War records, with a specialty in Confederate records. 

There will be over 50 class choices, for the beginner to advanced genealogist.

Both the conference and parking are free. When you register you will be given the opportunity to purchase lunch from Jason's Deli. 

Mesa Family History Conferences

The Mesa AZ FamilySearch Library has announced  two Family History Conferences coming up in February and March, 2016.  

The first conference will be held on Saturday, February 20, at the Red Mountain Institute building on the Maricopa Community College Red Mountain campus.  This facility is located near the 202 and McKellips Road, at 7126 E McKellips Road, Mesa.  

The second conference will be held on Saturday, March 12, at the Peoria LDS Stake Center on 12951 North 83rd Avenue in Peoria.  

Both conferences will offer classes from morning through late afternoon.  Lunches may be purchased.  

Registration for both conferences will begin on Friday, January 15, 2016, at www.mesafsl.org.

13th Annual Pinal County Genealogy Workshop

The 13th Annual Genealogy Workshop presented by the Pinal County Genealogists.

Beginning and experienced researchers may choose from 20 topics to help in their research. These classes include some of the basic favorites, along with new topics that have not been presented in previous workshops.

Mesa FamilySearch Library 2015 Family History Conference - Update

He graduated from BYU and has over 25 years working in technology and business leadership.  Todd is a native of Phoenix and the Gila Valley and enjoys visiting extended family in Arizona.

This year’s theme is “Putting It All Together” and provides a wide variety of over 50 class choices for all types of learners, from beginners to the most advanced genealogists.  Come and learn how to be more effective and efficient when doing your research.  Learn to trace your roots with DNA.  Learn to document your sources.  Get specific information on various ways to research in specific countries.  If you are new to family history, come learn the basics.  Some of the most popular classes are repeated in an effort to accommodate everyone.   Spend all day or come for a single class or two; you may attend a maximum of five classes.

At the time of registration, registrants will be given the opportunity to purchase lunch from Jason’s Deli. Otherwise, the conference is free.

Second Annual Genealogy Fair

 

The Southeast Regional Maricopa County Library is sponsoring a Genealogy Fair on Saturday, March 1. The Fair will run from 8:15am to 2:30pm.

No Family History Expo in 2014

Family History Expos is supporting the RootsTech conference February 6-8, 2014. We are not holding our annual Expos in Mesa or St. George this coming year. We look forward to seeing you at RootsTech and some of our other events in 2014.

They are going to be sorely missed by our community. Yes, the FamilySearch Library does put on a nice conference in the fall, but it lacks the breadth and I believe, the vitality, of the FHExpo. For those of you who cannot afford the admission fee or travel expense for Rootstech, make sure you check out the Mesa FamilySearch Library's conference, Saturday, Oct 26. In fact, if you can afford to attend Rootstech, check out our local conference anyway. Get more information at mesarfhc.org.

National Archives Virtual Genealogy Fair

September 3 & 4, the National Archives will host a virtual Genealogy Fair with live lectures,chat and a call-in genealogy help line.

This two-day program will showcase tips and techniques for using Federal records at the National Archives for genealogy research. Lectures are designed for experienced genealogy professionals and novices alike.

Arizona Family History Expo 2013

The Family History Expo is coming back to Mesa Convention Center on January 18-19, 2013. Click here to register now.

Onsite registration will begin and the exhibit hall will open at 1 p.m. on Friday January 18th. The event will close at 9 p.m. Exhibits and registration will re-open at 9 a.m. on Saturday. The exhibit hall will close at 4 p.m. Prizes donated by exhibitors will be given away both days and Grand Prizes donated by sponsors will be given away at the closing ceremony. This event is sponsored by Family History Expos and supported by FamilySearch.
